In 2016 the YS programed a piece that had a fast intricate triangle part. Using a traditional triangle holder on a music stand for this purpose would create unwanted resonance. I designed a holder that would lay on a trap table keeping the triangle in a horizontal position.
Parts:
- 9" shelf supports (2).
- 1"x 8" board.
- 1 bicycle rear carrier support.
- Nuts, bolts, washers, sheet metal screws, poly tubing and zip ties.
The Reitiesher worked well for the concert and the tour later in the year, but there were problems:
- It was bulky and difficult to pack safely.
- It was difficult to adjust and to mount the triangle.
THE REITIESHER 2
The Reitiesher 2 was designed to mount on a suspended cymbal stand of multiple diameters. I used 3/4" 'U' channel aluminum stock for the solid mount and 1/2" 'U' channel aluminum stock for the slotted (stand side) mount. This allowed the 2 clamps to nest inside each other for smaller diameter stands. Aluminum being softer than steel would allow it to bite and hold the holder firmly to the stand. I replaced the poly tubing with ridged nylon tubes and used 8lb. test beaded nylon zip ties below the support bolts. The left support bolt was non adjustable and held in place with a nylon lock nut. The right support bolt had a thumb screw head and a tri-wing nut allowing it to slide and tighten easily for the spacing. Triangles from 4"-9" were able to be suspended on this version.
Yes, it was named for the percussionist who played it on tour. His last name was longer and more complicated so we shortened it.
